we meet apple-san in episode 10, where mikan and gang heads to the conveted central town! mikan hears apple-san when it was about to be bought by two boys (it was crying out at the top of his lungs to the two boys not to eat him). mikan, being mikan, rushes in to apple-san's rescue and sets the happy and teary apple free, free to bounce away to its freedom in the wide wide world out there...forever...

unknown to him, he left a very broke and depressed mikan behind...hehe...

which brings us to the next question...

what could be apple-san's fate???

1. ran over by a car

2. eaten by something

3. found a lovely apple-spouse and settled down to create a tree???

But wait, that is not the only time we see it coming back! In episode 19, at the part where natsume throws the apple at mikan's head seconds before she kisses ruka-pyon (do i sense jealousy???!! hahahaha!!) there you go! our sweet apple-san makes an appearance!

Mikan grew up in a little town with her grandfather as her only kin. She goes to the local elementary school, Satsuki elementary school and there she makes a vow to make as many friends as possible. She became best friends with Hotaru Imai, a transfer student who came in during their third year. When Hotaru abruptly transfers away to a prestigeous school by the name of Alice Academy, Mikan decides to go after her. There she accidentally enrolls into the school itself and finally gets to be with her dearest Hotaru! Most of the time, this friendship does come across as a bit lopsided, with Mikan being more enthusiastic about it than Hotaru. But as the show goes on, it becomes evident that Hotaru does care for Mikan as she takes care of Mikan in small ways.
